GLASS-FIBRE  LAMINATIONS

The Delta

Tony Evans designed and built his first fibreglass shell in 1959 and in February the next year sent a letter to the editor of Car Mechanics offering the shells for sale to the public. Later that year he placed adverts in the same magazine advertising the Delta, as being available for the Ford 7`6 and 7`10" chassis and the business took off.

Prices were from £75-77 and a hardtop was also available for an extra £27.

Tony tells me that he made 50 shells in all, although none are now known to exist. After his first foray into fibreglass Tony took orders for all kinds of work including Lorry cabs and council trailers and only closed his laminating business in the early 1990s.
